Cleveland Heights New Build

A new home provides a unique opportunity to design the landscape as an extension of the architecture from the very beginning.

For this Cleveland Heights residence, the landscape was designed to complement the character and proportions of the new home while creating a series of spaces for entertaining, gathering, and everyday outdoor living.

The raised pool became a defining element of the design. Rather than simply placing the pool within the landscape, its elevated edge helps create an intimate gathering space and gives the pool a stronger architectural presence within the terrace.

Careful attention was also given to the relationship between the interior and exterior spaces. The centerline of the pool extends directly from the centerline of the dining room and continues through the landscape to a custom art piece, creating a deliberate visual axis that can be experienced from both inside and outside the home.

Layered plantings soften the architecture and hardscape while framing views and providing seasonal color and texture. Each element was considered as part of the larger composition, allowing the architecture, pool, terraces, art, and landscape to work together.

The result is a cohesive outdoor environment where strong architectural geometry is balanced by the softness of the landscape—and where the details reveal themselves as you move through the property.
